Standoff is by far the best map that was gifted upon us warthog drivers. It's a fun drive with a good team and some map control. By far, it's a high medal map and you shouldn't leave with any less than 20 wheelmen and a couple of splatters.
Team:
Your team doesn't have to do much this map except control the laser. A good enough team and you can dominate both hogs, all the anti-vehicle weapons, and keep flushing the enemy from their hiding spots. Map domination with both Hogs can lead to some fun competition between wheelmen and gunners. Just make sure you have a foot soldier control the laser and possibly attack their rockets.
Routes:
Now this maps terrain has some natural niches dug out for it to drive in. And has some great places where pulling the E-brake will allow you to swing and get some splatters. There are two alternate routes that can be taken at the beginning of the match. Sweep wide around the opponent's turret. This will get some fire off of the laser spawn. Or you can support your foot soldiers and drive towards the middle to assist the laser grabber. However this one increases your chances of being hit with a rocket. It should all depend on the strength of your teammates. Next you should start the base raping.
Dangers:
This list will be in order of most dangerous to least dangerous.
Laser:
Getting the laser is always vital, never more so than in this map. Help your teammates get it in the beginning of the match. The teammate should run back to your base with it. And notify any teammates near it when it respawns. If the other team does manage to procure it at the beginning of the match, try and kill him and get a hold of it. If not, do some fancy driving and hope.
Rockets:
Each base has rockets next to their invisibility. If you make the right passes and don't slow down, you should be able to effectively shut the rockets down. If they do get them, try to maneuver and not let them have a clear shot while your gunner mows him down.
Plasma Grenades:
Plasma grenades are one of the biggest threats of this map. They're easy to get a hold of and the rocks provide cover for enemies until your hog gets close. Each invisibility spawn has Plasma grenades by it along with two plasmas in the back of each base.
Enemy Hog:
Enemy hogs should be promptly put down with the laser by your teammates. If you get into a fight with the enemy hog, try and lead it towards you base while gunning at it. There are plenty of rocks to interrupt the other gunner's fire. Use the terrain to your advantage. After the initial spawn, your team should try and take it away.
Brute Shots:
Brute shots can be problematic if you dont spot them soon enough. Enemies that hide behind rocks with brute shots will be looking to flip you and grenade you. Try to avoid handbrake turning while under fire from a Brute Shot, this could cause you to flip easier than what would have happened. Keep your gunner lined up and giggle when you dispatch the enemy.
Energy Drain/Plasma Pistol/Frags :
There are Energy drains in each base along with plasma pistols. Try to avoid driving directly in front of the base if at all possible. There is not much room to maneuver and energy drains thrown from inside the base can effectively EMP your engine. Remember to watch out for frags.
Boarding:
Because sometimes getting boarded cannot be avoided practice all anti-boarding techniques. This map sees a lot of boarding due to all the cover provided by rocks. Any slowing down in the hog near a hidden enemy could lead to disastrous results. Careful where you drive or slow down near the enemy base.
